Divergent Book and Movie Fansite
Entertainment Weekly gives us the first ever review of 'Allegiant.' No one has gotten their hands on an advanced reader copy of 'Allegiant' since, according to a HarperCollins rep, none were produced. Why didn't book reviewers get an ARC to review? Cause they want us to experience the surprises in the final installment all at once; together. But EW got an exclusive preview!
Entertainment Weekly gives 'Allegiant' a B+ rating. You can read the full review below, but warning the rest of this blog and the review have some mild spoilers.
What we found the the most exciting from the review page is a new 'Allegiant' quote! "Part of the appeal of the Complaints had been its focus on the rules broken rather than bones, on cops that had crossed the line."
What we found disturbing is the way they described Veronica Roth's writing as it pertains to the death of characters. To express this best, let me quote the reviewer, "Veronica Roth is no George .R.R. Martin-but in the final installment of her 'Divergent Trilogy,' she shows a similar merciless streak. Barely six chapters in, Roth brutally offs a character who's been around since the first book. The message: In this dystopian universe, nobody is safe." Holy smokes Batman those are some intense words. If you aren't familiar with George Martin, well he writes 'The Game of Thrones' book series and he kills off all of your favorite characters. So comparing Veronica to George scares the crap out of me!
The last line of the review talks of a "shocking" ending. Not sure my heart can take it. How about yours?
